Description

20140826 - POITIERS, FRANCE: As its name suggests, the park presents a large collection of primates on vegetated Islands or "territories" that the visitor crosses in circulating in the beautiful environment of the apes and other lemurs. In total, 40 species are presented in the small Pygmy Marmoset to the large Gorilla, passing by the mandrill, lemurs, the chimpanzee, colobus, the squirrel monkey, the titi or callicebe, the woolly monkey or the red-faced black spider monkey. A mini-farm ends visit. Recently (in 2011), the Park became the first french zoo to submit bonobos. Two baby bonobos were born in 2012 and 2013, it is the largest group of bonobos in the world that is presented in captivity, with 17 individuals.

Open July 14, 1998, the monkey Valley was founded by Wim Mager which had already established the Apenheul Park in the Netherlands in 1971, which was the first Park to primates in semi-freedom in the world.

La Vallée des Singes commitment to the protection of the environment was awarded certification according to ISO 14001 in 2012.

The Valley of the monkeys is also the headquarters of the association "the Conservatory for the Protection of Primates" who participates in the conservation of primates around the world, including through the "Proyecto Mono Tocón", the San Martín titi monkey conservation project at the Peru. The "Conservatory" reverse approximately € 100,000 each year for the conservation of primates. bePress Philippe BOURGUET
